RV in the USA is run by Amy Marturana Winderl (that’s me, up there on the left), one half of a married couple currently living and traveling around the US in a RV—a 2017 Jayco Jayflight travel trailer, to be exact. I’m a freelance writer and editor, and my husband Joe is an accountant. Hence why most of the things you read here will come from me, the wordsmith of the relationship.
We left our jobs in NYC so that we could go out and see the country. We love hiking and backpacking and outdoor adventuring, but could only squeeze it in very rarely living in an urban area on the east coast. So, we decided to move out of our apartment and into something a little more mobile that we could take out west. Our big adventure is starting in the southwestern US, and will take us wherever we decide to go. Nervewracking? For sure. Freeing? Absolutely.
We are not experts; we’re just figuring it all out as we go, and hoping it’s relatively smooth sailing. But we want to share all of our experiences—both good and bad—with other people who are interested in doing something similar or are just genuinely curious about how we’re living this way.
So, welcome! And thanks for joining us on this ride.
“Few places in this world are more dangerous than home. Fear not, therefore, to try the mountain passes. They will kill care, save you from deadly apathy, set you free, and call forth every faculty into vigorous, enthusiastic action.”
—John Muir
